What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a safe, natural holistic, and non-intrusive complementary health therapy, based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body.

Reflexologists work holistically with their clients and aim to work alongside conventional medical to help to promote better health and well-being for their clients. It will deeply calm and balance your mind, body and soul allowing your body to naturally balance itself, leaving you with a sense of well-being on all levels.

This fits in perfectly with Podiatry and we often recommend that patients may benefit enormously from this service.

However Reflexologists do not diagnose, prescribe or cure.

Reflexology is using fingers, palms and knuckles and applying on your feet. It is a gentle treatment. It is an accepted component of general wellness. Every effort is made to make sure you are as comfortable as possible. This method can range from a pleasant de-stressing of the body, to helping to heal physical complaints. Phoebe will ask you if you want the pressure to be applied soft, medium, or hard. She will also ask you if you have any particular physical complaints, so they can focus on the reflex points that will alleviate these complaints.

What reflexology can do for you are a deeply relaxing treatment you will really enjoy; and used as a chance to unwind and forget about life for an hour.

Phoebe's Methodology at The Penicuik Podiatrist Clinic

A consultation takes place first followed by the 1 hour treatment and only for first treatment. The consultation covers the medical history and the lifestyle, and it ensures Phoebe is aware of any existing conditions, before she undertakes the treatment. Treatments take place on a reclining chair and you will remain fully clothes except for your shoes and socks. You will be wrapped in warm blankets and soft towels. Phoebe will then treat your feet while you listen to relaxing music, most of people tend to drift off! Phoebe uses her hands to work the reflex points in your feet, and she will explain fully at the start of a treatment what to expect from Penicuik Reflexology.

After treatment, phoebe will explain what healing responses you might have.  She will give you some suggestion, such as drink more water, avoid alcohol and intensive exercise in 24 hours etc.

Reflexology treats you holistically as a person to increase your overall well-being. Most people find they gain a deep sense of relaxation during the treatment and often find the treatments bring about a release of tension, improved sleep, improved mood and an increased sense of well-being.
