Digitsole Smart Insole Gait Check

Our Digitsole Smart Insole Gait Check is a 30‑minute appointment where we use Digitsole smart insoles inside your shoes to help us assess how you walk in real life.

Instead of relying only on what we can see in the clinic, we can capture useful movement information while you walk normally. This helps us explain what is happening, and it supports clearer decisions about what to do next.

What happens on the day

• Set-up (in clinic): we fit the Digitsole insoles into your footwear and check everything is working properly.

• Short walk (usually outdoors): we take you for a short walk outside (weather permitting). This is a “normal walking” assessment—not a fashion show, a military march, or an audition for Strictly.

• Review and plan: we review the findings with you and link them to your symptoms and clinical assessment. We then discuss practical next steps.

What this appointment can help with

We commonly use this assessment to support decision-making for:

• ongoing or recurring foot/ankle pain

• lower-limb aches and strains where gait may be a factor

• checking how footwear, insoles, orthotics, or rehab changes are affecting your walking

• objective baseline measures and progress checks

• 
  

What to bring

• the shoes you wear most often (trainers are ideal)

• a spare pair of shoes if symptoms vary by footwear

• any current insoles/orthotics you use

• socks suitable for walking

• a jacket if we’re heading outside (Scottish weather enjoys making guest appearances)
